Nurse Assistant Program
Students interested in an entry point for careers in healthcare often look to ASN’s full-time Nurse Assistant Program. Over the course of 60 hours of theory and 116 clinical hours, students receive crucial patient care training and diligent preparation for California Department of Public Health certification through a curriculum that includes:
- Admissions, Transfers and Discharges
- Death and Dying course
- Patients’ Rights
- Personal Care
- Safety Procedures
- State Requirements for Certified Nursing Assistants
- The Aging Process
- Time Management
- Vital Signs

Nurse assistants are pivotal members of the care team, enhancing quality of life by attending to a patient’s unique daily needs. Whether they are taking blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; monitoring fluid intake and output; or helping a patient eat, bathe, and dress, nurse assistants are indispensable advocates in supporting patients and their loved ones.
